A review of Cornerstones Curriculum Maestro

A Game Changer for Curriculum Design and Implementation

‘Our mission is to help primary schools design, deliver and manage an outstanding curriculum that is right for their children.’

Melanie Moore, Curriculum Director of Cornerstones Education

Everything is in one place, on one easy to use online platform

School leaders often tell us that they would like more time to manage their daily tasks. The pressures on schools have never been greater. As a result, schools are beginning to outsource products in order to manage the high demands on staff workload. In our increasingly busy school environments, having a system that enables schools to easily develop a deep, cohesive curriculum, with engaging sequences of lessons, timetabling opportunities, assessment tracking grids and coverage and progression monitoring systems all in one place, seems like a very sensible idea. Curriculum Maestro does that. It takes all those elements of curriculum design, delivery and management and puts it onto one, easy to use platform.

Meticulously planned lesson sequences providing engaging learning opportunities

Curriculum Maestro has been developed using the latest thinking in educational research, in partnership with over 500 school leaders and curriculum experts, to provide an innovative platform to manage a curriculum.

Curriculum Maestro offers schools two licence options. The full licence includes access to the popular Cornerstones Curriculum, a broad and balanced curriculum with over 100 engaging projects from Nursery to Year 6. The full licence also comes with over 2000 attractive resources to support the delivery of the curriculum for schools to tap into as part of the package. Alongside this, there is a new Assessment tracker, which enables teachers to upload assessment information as part of the lesson, allowing for real time assessment opportunities. Alternatively, schools can choose a ‘Lite’ licence, where they can create their own projects and organise them on the Maestro system. Both licence options on Curriculum Maestro include a robust knowledge and skills progression framework, helping schools to ensure coverage and progression across subjects.

Benefits for schools

  • Workload: Curriculum Maestro aims to reduce workload for staff, by providing a choice of activities and plans for teachers to utilise, plus live analysis and assessment for SLT and subject leaders to monitor actual curriculum coverage and attainment.

  • Coverage of the national curriculum programmes of study: Being able to track intended and actual national curriculum coverage across the whole school.

  • Planning, teaching and assessment: Being able to link live planning, teaching and assessment across the whole curriculum, which can be shared with key members of staff for monitoring. You can also plan and save next year’s curriculum on the system, using preplanned models if required.

'The children love Cornerstones and are very enthusiastic to talk about their learning. Our outcomes are on a three-year upward trend in all areas. I couldn't recommend it more.’

Headteacher, Sawbridgeworth

‘We have just had our Ofsted inspection on 12 November 2019 and I wanted to let you know that Curriculum Maestro was a vital part in the subject deep dives that we had. It is massively useful for subject leaders at the moment.’

Headteacher, Liversedge What do we think?

If you are looking for a connected, knowledge and skills rich curriculum that is easy to monitor, with engaging activities, one that you can edit to make it bespoke to your school, then this is the curriculum for you.
