Job interviews are not simply an opportunity for your prospective school to learn more about you; they are also an opportunity for you to learn more about the school and people to whom you will be working with.
Normally, an opportunity to ask questions comes at the end of the interview (but not always!)
Asking the right questions is important as you need to know everything about the job so that you understand what it is you will be asked to do.
Here is what we suggest you could ask:
- What do you personally like most about working at this school?
- What do you find most challenging about working at this school?
- How would you describe your school’s culture and ethos?
- How will you support me in my role as a senior leader?
- How will you look after my well-being?
- How do you help your staff grow professionally?
- What new initiatives or changes are on the horizon for the school?
- Is there anything we have not yet covered that you think is important to know about working here?
- What, as governors, do you see are the strengths and weaknesses of the school?
